Apollo - Water Based Laminating Varnishes and Adhesives
We proudly present our Water Based Technology for Credit Cards
Plastic cards, as for ID or banking purposes, have become an ever-present tool for electronic identification or cashless transactions all over the world.
Individual designs enhance the brand recognition as well as the brand loyalty.
Water Based Laminating Varnishes and Adhesives are formulated for printing onto PVC and other
substrates for the production of plastic cards. These inks are intended to replace solvent based products
where there is a need or a requirement to reduce VOC (Volatile Organic Content) emissions.
It is provide very high lamination bond strengths when compared to other technologies. They are also water reducible and exhibit extremely low odour.
In addition, screens can be cleaned up with water.
Water Based Laminating Varnishes and Adhesives are designed to be used in place of existing solvent-based
varnishes such as S2871. They give excellent bond strength but without containing high levels of VOCs.
S33871 Ultralam Adhesive Varnish
is a standard water based laminating adhesive designed for most applications.
S33911 Ultralam Adhesive Varnish
is similar to S.33781 but has better performance for IR blocking applications.
S34710 Ultralam Adhesive Varnish
is designed to be used with digital prints like indigo and can be used as a primer or as a laminating adhesive.
Product range: A number of varnishes and adhesives are available. Many of our water-based
Adhesives/Varnishes can be used as primers to improve adhesion of screen/offset inks
to the core material. Other specialist products are available. If you need any further
information please contact us.
Lamination is normally carried out at temperatures between 130-150C. Overlay
thickness should be between 40-80 microns (0.4-0.8mm) for optimum results,
although other thicknesses can be used. Full product testing should be carried out
before commencing a production run.
Usage: Water Based Laminating Varnishes and Adhesives are used for the production for
laminated plastic cards primarily on rigid PVC but other substrates such as
Polycarbonate and PETG can be used.
